EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Faculty, postdoctoral scholars, students and staff gathered at the Collegian Hotel and Suites on Friday, April 10, for the Neuroscience and Health Behavior Research Day, a daylong event highlighting cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration across Syracuse University and beyond.
Co-sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program and the Center for Health Behavior Research & Innovation (CHB), the event featured invited talks, selected oral presentations, a poster session and opportunities for networking among researchers across career stages and disciplines.
The program opened with welcome remarks from Jessica MacDonald, Executive Director of the Neuroscience Program, and Joe Ditre, Director of the Center for Health Behavior, who emphasized the value of bringing together scholars working across neuroscience, health behavior and related fields.

A highlight of the day was the keynote address from Karla Kaun, Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University, who presented “Neuromolecular mechanisms underlying approach-avoidance conflict in alcohol self-administration.”
Attendees also heard invited presentations from Syracuse University faculty members whose work reflects the breadth and innovation of neuroscience-related research across campus.
Neuroscience and Health Behavior Research Day reflected Syracuse University’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research and creating meaningful opportunities for scholars to connect across departments, programs and institutions.
