Discover the VA Million Veteran Program (MVP)

What is MVP?
VA Million Veteran Program (MVP) is one of the world’s largest research biobanks, with over one million U.S. veterans who have shared health, survey, and genetic information with VA to improve care and advance science. MVP securely links VA electronic health records, questionnaires, and genomic data to support large-scale studies of Veterans’ health, illness, and treatment.
Why MVP matters
MVP is one of the most powerful research resources available in Veteran health research, combining:
- Large, diverse veteran cohort with longitudinal VA electronic health record
- Rich survey data on lifestyle, military experiences, and psychosocial factors
- Genomic, sequencing, methylation, and nutrition data
- Ideal for veteran-focused, CHB mission-aligned research
Who can use MVP data?
- Access is grant-based and requires a VA Principal Investigator
- Non-VA CHB affiliates participate as collaborators on VA-led projects
- Data remain inside secure VA systems
