Grant Preparation & Proposal Development
CHB now offers comprehensive biostatistics consultation for Affiliates preparing grant applications or launching new research projects. Investigators may request support with:

  • Study design consultation and evaluation
  • Sample size and power calculations
  • Development of statistical analysis plans
  • Review and refinement of grant proposals and revisions

These services are intended to strengthen the rigor, clarity, and competitiveness of externally funded proposals across all areas of health and behavior research.

Areas of Expertise
CHB Affiliates may access comprehensive analytic support for new or ongoing research projects. Dr. Huang provides expertise across a wide range of quantitative methodologies commonly used in behavioral health research. Areas of support include, but are not limited to:

  • Bivariate analyses (t-tests, chi-square tests, ANOVA, non-parametric tests, correlations)
  • Regression modeling (linear, logistic, etc.)
  • Survival Analysis (Kaplan Meier curves, log-rank tests, Cox proportional hazards models, cumulative incidence functions, Fine-gray models, restricted mean survival time, restricted mean time lost)
  • Longitudinal & Repeated Measures Modeling (mixed-effects models, generalized estimating equations, trajectory and latent growth models, cross-lagged panel models, structural equation modeling)
  • Causal Inference (Marginal structural models, G-formula)
  • Multiple imputation for missing data
  • Psychophysiological data analysis, including processing and modeling of physiological signals relevant to behavioral and clinical research (e.g., heart rate variability, EEG).

These examples represent commonly requested analytic approaches; they are not exhaustive. Affiliates with specialized or advanced methodological needs are encouraged to consult with Dr. Huang to determine the most appropriate analytic strategy for their project.

Manuscript Preparation & Review

  • Creation of publication-ready tables and figures
  • Writing and refining statistical methods and results sections
  • Review and interpretation of analytic output
  • Edits and scientific review of manuscripts
  • Assistance with responses to reviewer comments

Workshops and Training
In addition to grant-focused consulting, CHB hosts periodic workshops and office hours on key topics in research design and statistical analysis. These opportunities are available to CHB affiliates, and their students and trainees.
